Who is eligible for the DooÜ Weight Loss program?

If you're in Canada and battling obesity, DooÜ may be right for you. Our program is available to anyone with a BMI over 26 who also has another health issue, or anyone with a BMI over 30. To join, you must be a permanent resident or Canadian citizen living in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta or British Columbia. You must be in Canada for the duration of your treatment with us.

How much does the program cost?

Once your treatment begins, you'll have check-ins with your healthcare professional every one to three months at a cost of $50 per visit. These discussions are designed to monitor your progress and fine-tune your treatment plan. As you progress, your healthcare professional may recommend adjusting the frequency of these visits to best support your journey.

The cost of medications is separate and may vary depending on the specific prescription and your insurance plan.

Is DooÜ legit?

DooÜ is certified by LegitScript to be providing telemedicine services within Canada. As part of the certification, LegitScript has determined that DooÜ meets the required standards for legality, safety and transparency!

Also, our prescribers are Canadian licensed physicians and their credentials can be easily verified on the College of Physicians website for the province they are licensed in. All prescriptions from DooÜ prescribers are sent to a licensed partner pharmacy, and then delivered safely to our patients.

How does this visit work?

After signing up, you'll fill out a health assessment, where you'll share your health history and goals. A healthcare professional will review this information.

During the assessment, you can securely ask your practitioner questions through email. Typically, your healthcare professional will complete your assessment and will notify you of your results via email. However, sometimes, they may decide that you need an audio visit or more testing to determine the best treatment plan.

If your doctor decides you need prescription treatment, they'll approve your visit and write you a prescription. Our partner pharmacy will then deliver your prescription to your home.

You can write to your doctor if you have any questions about your medication or want to make changes to your treatment.

Do I need to complete my online visit at a scheduled time?

No. We use an asynchronous telehealth model that allows you to complete your online visit at your own pace. Your progress is saved so you can return later to complete it. If your visit is for weight loss, your healthcare professional may request a phone or video call to further discuss your medical profile during the assessment process.

Most assessments don’t require a phone or video appointment. After reviewing your intake assessment, a doctor will contact you via phone call to further discuss your medical history as part of the assessment process.

How quickly will a healthcare professional review my online visit?

Accepted Answer

You can expect a response from a healthcare professional within 24-48 hours of submission. If you've been waiting longer than this, please email support@doou.ca , and we'll look into it.

Can I just get the medication and skip the online visit?

Accepted Answer

No. All medications currently offered through the DooÜ service require a prescription written by a licensed healthcare professional. If you already have a prescription with at least one refill remaining, you can transfer it to our partner pharmacy.

Please email our customer support team at support@doou.ca they will be able to assist you with the transfer.

How do I renew my prescription?

As your prescription approaches its refill date, we will send you an email with a brief follow-up consultation questionnaire. This questionnaire will assist the doctor in assessing your needs and determining the most effective treatment to support your weight loss goals. Please note that a one-time renewal fee of $50 will be applied, but this charge will only be processed once the prescription has been issued.

How long will it take to get my medication?

Not long. Once your evaluation is complete, a professional responds within 24-48 hours, often much sooner.

If nothing prevents them from doing so, the pharmacy will process and fill your prescription within 2-3 business days of your prescription approval date.

All packages are shipped via Express Post, which usually takes 2-3 business days. You will receive an email with your tracking number once your treatment has shipped.

Absolutely. All DooÜ shipments arrive in a nondescript blister pack, so you can have your medication shipped wherever makes sense for you.

We recommend that you upload your private and/or provincial benefit card during your online visit so that our pharmacy partner can apply any coverage you are eligible for before shipping your medications.

Insurance coverage for medications through DooÜ doesn't include the cost of your visit.

Is the medication covered by my insurance or provincial health plans?

Medication coverage varies widely between plans and provinces and has specific criteria that determine eligibility. If you have private insurance, we recommend contacting your benefits administrator with your information, the Drug Identification Number (DIN), and drug name to determine your coverage.

No. DooÜ provides a faster, hassle-free way to get a prescription for specific medications. Still, our service does not replace your primary care physician. For matters beyond safely and easily obtaining a prescription lifestyle medication, we encourage you to consult your primary care physician in person - whether for checkups, personal health concerns or to inform them about medications you are currently taking.

Absolutely. Our online assessments have been designed to ask all the necessary questions required for diagnosis. We've worked with specialists to create an assessment process that can provide sufficient information for the healthcare practitioner to determine whether or not you are eligible for a prescription and craft an appropriate treatment plan.

It's an emergency. What should I do?

Call 911 or proceed to your nearest emergency room immediately. DooÜ is not intended for medical emergencies. Once the emergency has been addressed or resolved, contact your prescribing practitioner to inform them of your experience as this may impact your current treatment plan.

Is my information private and secure?

Yes, your security is paramount to DooÜ's mission. Personal health information provided during your medical assessment is strictly and legally confidential between you and the DooÜ healthcare professional.

In addition, all of your account information (including the medical assessment, credit card and shipping information, etc.) is also kept secure. DooÜ complies with all federal and provincial health privacy laws. We are committed to protecting your information with a comprehensive security infrastructure and strict privacy policies to ensure that your information remains private and secure.

Is this legal?

Yes! In Canada, only a licensed practitioner can write a prescription, and only a registered pharmacist can fill that prescription. Our healthcare professionals are licensed and partnered with a registered pharmacy.

Absolutely. All prescriptions obtained through DooÜ are written by licensed Canadian physicians - just as you would get in a hospital, doctor's office or clinic. These practitioners do not write prescriptions unless they feel it is medically safe and appropriate based on your medical profile and assessment answers.

How much is the online visit?

DooÜ charges $100 for the online visit, but only if and when you are approved by the healthcare professional.

How much will my medication cost?

That depends. Medication costs vary from treatment to treatment, but are similar to what you would pay in person at a pharmacy. During the online visit, you will see the estimated cost of your medication prior to coverage, but you will not be billed until after your consultation with a doctor. Once approved, your prescription will be sent to the pharmacy and we will process payment and fill the prescription within one to two days.

Note that you don't have to pay the full price. If you have insurance, DooÜ's partner pharmacies will bill your insurer directly. You may also be eligible for financial assistance in your province.

When am I charged?

You will be charged for the online visit as soon as your assessment is approved by the healthcare practitioner. From there, and after your prescription is activated by the pharmacy, you will be charged the medication cost for each shipment based on your chosen refill schedule. If you have provided insurance or benefits coverage details, it will be applied according to your plan.

Unfortunately, we cannot issue a refund once the prescription has been issued.

Our healthcare providers, adhering to a strict code of professional conduct, are obligated to meticulously review your assessment to ensure the appropriateness of treatments based on their expertise and judgment. Healthcare providers are entitled to charge for their time if the assessment request was approved and the prescription was successfully issued. Since this fee covers the provider’s time, refunds cannot be provided once the prescription has been issued.

How do I communicate with my DooÜ practitioner?

Can I see the same DooÜ practitioner after my initial assessment?

Our matching system is based on availability, so we can’t guarantee that you’ll be matched with the same doctor for your renewal visit.

When your prescription is nearing its end, we will email you to schedule a check-up visit so that one of our prescribers can renew it.

Who are the practitioners that will be reviewing my online visit?

They are all licensed, real Canadian healthcare practitioners! All online visits submitted via DooÜ are reviewed by them, and they must be licensed in your province to prescribe you the medication. It is these healthcare practitioners, and not DooÜ, who determine whether or not to write you a prescription, as well as the appropriate dosage (where applicable).

What is the difference between Ozempic and Semaglutide?
